Wed. @7:15pm - Midweek Prayer Service via Zoom.
Wed.@7:30pm - Streaming The Chosen series via Zoom.
"The Chosen is a historical drama based on the life of Jesus and those who knew him. Set against the backdrop of Roman
oppression in first-century Israel, the series shares an authentic look at Jesus' revolutionary life and teachings." Each episode lasts for about 45 minutes. All are welcome and no previous knowledge is presumed or necessary in order to enjoy each episode. Having said that, if you have read all four gospels at least once, that might help you gain a deeper understanding of what's going and who's who.
Thursday @7:30pm - Book Study via Zoom.
During January, our small group will read C.S. Lewis' essay titled Screwtape Proposes a Toast which is a sequel to The Screwtape Letters. If you want to join us, just go ahead and join our Zoom session on Thursday. There will not be anything to read ahead. We just listen to John Cleese reading for us and using a professionally prepared study guide which says this, among other things: "Ironically, Lewis' writing seem strangely prophetic today probably more than in 1959. It is almost as if the demons took Screwtape Proposes a Toast and used it as their playbook for the next 50 years..."
NEXT SUNDAY, Feb. 1st - After the service and a light lunch, Canon Janet Marshall, the Director or Congregational Development in our diocese will be with us to introduce a process of visioning the future of our church.
We will hear about how parishes throughout our diocese have been impacted by the pandemic lockdowns and how they are responding. Together we will hear and consider how St Thomas can work together to create a vision and plan that will focus and guide us over the coming years.
To prepare for this conversation please reflect prayerfully on the following questions.
Thinking about St Thomas: What brings you the most joy? What worries you most?
Zoom streaming of this presentation and conversation will be offered at the same link as the worship service to include all the shut-ins, the travellers and those parishioners who do not live in Oro-Medonte.

"Patrick wasn't Irish by birth—he was an immigrant who returned to his captors' land out of obedience to a divine call, embodying radical forgiveness and missionary zeal. His writings show a man of action, not eloquence: self-deprecating ("I am a stone lying in the deep mire") yet unyielding in faith. He bridged Roman Christianity with Celtic culture, influencing monasteries that preserved learning during Europe's Dark Ages.
"The early Irish Christianity planted in Ireland by Patrick is much more joyful and celebratory [than its Roman predecessor] in the way it approaches the natural world. It is really not a theology of sin but of the goodness of creation, and it really is intensely incarnational.
"And since it was the Irish monks who served as the bridge between classical Christianity and the Middle Ages, medieval Christianity tends to reflect the celebratory nature of Irish spirituality rather than the gloom and sin-centeredness of its classical predecessor."
